Tennis: Caroline Wozniacki gets to score her first win ever against Venus at the WTA Finals in Singapore

Caroline Wozniacki, except for a mild hiccup against Caroline Garcia, had found her groove on the slow court at the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Caroline Wozniacki wins her first WTA Finals.

This is the similar turf where Wozniacki had troubled Serena Williams and took her to three sets, in 2014, and today she overcame a stiff resistance in the 2nd set by Venus Williams to win 6-4, 6-4 in a closely fought first and very exciting second set.

Venus lost two consecutive service games and went down 5-0 and then returned the favor by breaking Caroline Wozniacki twice in a row to make it 5-4. Venus, however, was broken in the tenth game again to finally go down 6-4.

Wozniacki wins her first match against Venus Williams in eight attempts.

With this result, she finally scored a win in her eighth meeting with Venus Williams. Substantial time has elapsed since their last match at the Miami Masters in 2015, and with the court playing as slow as it did, in Singapore, the stars had finally aligned for Caroline Wozniacki to score her first win over Venus Williams.
