Wedding Bells A Ringin’ Part 1

It’s been a big few weeks for woman’s tennis, not just with Serena winning another Wimbledon in straight sets, but also because two players have tied to knot.

Ana Ivanovic has gone ahead and tied the READ MORE knot with Bastian Schweinsteiger, a Manchester United midfielder, who has been her fiance for around two years, when the ring on finger sparked engagement speculations during Wimbledon 2015. While they tied the knot in a more private ceremony in Venice City Hall, they had a church wedding yesterday.

Ivanovic has always struck me as a girly girl, the type who believes in true love and who has imagined getting married ever since she was young. I don’t know whether it can be considered naive, or we should applaud the fact that she has been able to hold onto her considerably more kind and soft nature in comparison to most other women you see on tour. I’m happy for Ivanovic because I’m sure that she’s extremely happy with her marriage, and I hope that her expectations of married life are not shattered. I also hope that this new aspect of her life doesn’t take her away from the tennis circuit. I’ve always had a soft spot for Ivanovic and I wouldn’t mind seeing her preform better in tournaments. Ivanovic seems to struggle to recover from heartbreak, which was clearly seen when she broke up with ex-boyfriend golfer Adam Scot. It was all downhill for her tennis from there. She even said that she was ‘negatively effected’ by the separation.

Will this change in Ana’s life bring about a positive change in her tennis? Only time will tell.

All the best to the new couple!
